Unitree's flagship G1 model is a prime example. Its low running cost is appealing, but wider adoption could strain electricity systems, especially with the energy demands of AI data centers. This is a delicate balance—making robots accessible without overburdening infrastructure.

What this industry needs is a realistic assessment of what these robots can and cannot do. Purpose-built robots for specific industrial tasks may be more practical than general-purpose humanoids. The key is to identify the right applications and markets, ensuring that the technology is not just a novelty but a genuine solution to real-world problems.
