He reminds young folks coming up behind him in Fayetteville that he made it and they can, too, in whatever they dream,” Myron wrote.

In a 2009 interview with Myron, the then-24-year-old Cole explained why he referred to his hometown as “Fayettenam.” He said, “It was something to be proud of, almost like, ‘Look what we’re coming out of, making the best out of it.’”
